There are basically three different ways to get from Lucerne to Mount Rigi:
Option 1: You first take the boat to Vitznau (approx. 50'). From Vitznau, take the cog railway up to Mount Rigi. The Rigi Railway station is located directly opposite the boat station. The journey on the cogwheel railway to Mount Rigi takes about 40 minutes.
Option 2: First take the boat to Weggis (approx. 40'). From Weggis, take the aerial cableway to Rigi Kaltbad. Please note: From the boat station in Weggis it is about a 15-minute walk to the Rigi railway station. Once you arrive at Rigi Kaltbad, change to the cogwheel railway (coming from Vitznau) and travel up to the Rigi (Rigi Kulm).
Option 3: First take the train from Lucerne to Arth Goldau. From Arth Goldau, take the cog railway up to Mount Rigi (Rigi Kulm).
The various options can be combined to form a round trip. We recommend travelling by boat via Vitznau on the outward journey and via Weggis (boat to Lucerne) on the return journey.
